Back in 1987, in a small Northern California migrant town named Mendota, sat 10 year old me in a 5th grade classroom trying to say the word chicken and saying 'SHicken' every single time during our 'read out loud' sessions. This artwork is a fond reminder of the frustrations and triumphs of my migrant journey during my childhood.
